On the platform for Bio4Energy Biopolymers and Biochemical Conversion Technologies scientists develop new biocatalysts and bio-based processes designed for efficient conversion of lignocellulose into commodities such as advanced biofuels, "green" chemicals and bio-based materials. Since 1 January 2016, platform researchers also:

  • Use tree cell-wall polymers as a raw material for producing electrictiy, heat, biofuel and value-added 'co-products' using biorefinery methods and;
  • Create and develop biocomposites using nanotechnology.
